Today was Regatta day in Westray, and it was rounded off by Westray’s very own fire festival. We had some “Viking” visitors from Shetland to help us get things going. The local fishermen kindly provided an old boat to burn. After a week preparing over a hundred torches, tonight was the night.
It wasn’t disappointment, as the pictures show there was a really good turnout. For an island with only 600 inhabitants, I reckon they were all here.
Well done the Westray Sailing Club for organising this, I hope we do it every year, it rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable day.
