Very often, when discussing the design of their website, or discussing getting better ranking for their website with Google clients will say something like “Oh! and make sure that you add plenty of keyword tag thingys, because I’ve heard they’re really important”.
Happy days when they were. Once upon a time in the world wide webs innocent youth search engines read a website keyword tags and trusted these to truthfully describe what the site was about. Unscrupulous designers very quickly realised that this was a good way to trick search engines into improving their ranking.
Keyword tags have been so used an abused over the years that they are now al but completely ignored by most search engines and definitely by Google.
